Newborn baby moccasins

                            Good morning and Happy Friday! Today I am going to share some really sweet baby moccasins from my Etsy shop

We make these leather moccasins by cutting from a very large hide, punching them with our leather tools and then sewing them. If you decide to buy a beaded pair we bead them with just the right colors of beads for your newborn. We are a very hands on handmade shop and all things are made with love. John and I have been creating these for over 25 years and we have some very satisfied customers from way back.  I gave them to all four of my Grand Children, keeping their little feet all warm and cozy. The ones I am showing you measure 3.5 inches heel to toe. 

These small baby shoes make a really great gift for anew mom and baby and are a big hit for a baby shower gift.

Fall Fashion and back to school

Good Morning! We are quickly going into the Fall season and of course back to school has already began. So today I thought I would share a few fun items for everyone from our store that would make either an awesome gift for your friend or family member or something for yourself that you might need today. One of our popular handmade boho handbags that works great for a light weight phone bag is this brown leather crossbody bag. 

Brown Leather Handbag

This brown leather purse measures 8.5 inches tall x 7.5 inches wide and has a four point braided strap and an antler tip closure. We are now adding many different colors to our handmade handbags . See the chart at the bottom of the page.

This is a great bag for a young women going back to school or anyone who would like to carry less items when out on the town.

Another one of our favorites that can be made in some real beautiful different colors is this 10 inch tote. This is the style of bag that I use everyday. I love it because it is so easy to get in and out of. We also add an antler toggle at the top to keep your items secure. I have carried mine for many years now. Of course I am a beader so I love the added effects of my beadwork.

This leather tote measures 10 inches tall x 10 inches wide by 2.75 inches deep. It has a comfortable flat strap that can be made in any length you like. This leather tote also features an antler toggle closure.  We love creating a new bag that is custom designed just for you that you will enjoy for a life time.

This is my bag / tote on me. I love rainbows and turtles with a little native rustic style. I also love purple and tie dyes. So for fun I thought I'd show you a pic of me in our garden with my turtle bag. My bag is at least 10 years old so it is what I like to call "antiqued."

Not everyone is interested in a tote so for those of you who love  having a lid on your bag we have some really cool boho gypsy style bags that can be plain, beaded, or fringed.

We custom design all our work and create one of a kind bags and purses all the time.

FRINGED LEATHER TOTE HANDBAG

Today I would like to share one of our fringed leather totes with you. It is made in chocolate brown elkskin leather and has saddle tan lace and overlays. The contrasting overlays and lace gives this crossbody bag a really cool look. Of course no two overlays are the same on any of our leather totes and we always try to make them as close to the picture as possible.

This handmade buckskin leather tote measures 10 inches tall , 10 inches wide and 2 3/4 inches deep. The strap is 48 inches and can be made to whatever length you like. Because we are a made to order shop we can make a custom designed tote just for you and your needs.

Handmade Bags

It's a beautiful Saturday morning and we had some awesome rainfall last night. We are getting closer to Christmas day and John and I have been working very hard on all our Christmas orders. One of the things I love about Christmas is the message of Peace , Love , Compassion , Gentleness, Patience. This is the most important thing to remember. All the beating up of people  on black Friday, to get a TV or whatever I hear about, just sounds like madness. There is no way this promotes peace..... So why not have yourself a Merry, Happy Christmas and keep it simple. There are many handmade artists out there who are working hard to share the love of their art so you can give something special.

Our shop had to have a cut off date of November 15th for everything to come to you before Christmas. But we have many beautiful handmade items for after Christmas. I thought today I would share a couple of my favorites.

This fringed leather handbag has really long flowing fringe. This is a new color of leather we have gotten in lately. It is called dark saddle. It is so pretty a real rich color of elkskin.

I love the brown leather with black contrasting lace on this bag.

This bag is a unisex bag. A man that wants a man bag or a woman who want a really soft durable everyday bag, this is the bag for you.

New from Thunder Rose Leather

Spring is definately here now. Even my grape vines are getting there leaves. The only trees left to come out are the mesquite trees. They come out in April. I love mesquite trees. I have a really big one in my garden. They are a desert tree so they don't have to be watered.

A few things are coming up in the garden and the march winds have been blowing strong.

We've been busy in the shop. Thought I'd share a new thing or two with you today. I got some new beads in this week and as soon as I have a moment I am giong to post them in our leather and bead store on Etsy.

 This is one of my bead walls. I have one here by our singer sewing machine. A lot of medicine bags have been made on this beauty. 

Most of our work is hand stitched but a few things are done on a sewing machine.

Handmade leather tote by Thunder Rose Leather

 Lets start with this beaded sunburst large tote.

This elk skin leather tote with a beaded sunburst is a great handbag for your everyday needs. It has an extra pocket inside and a comfortable strap if you like to wear your handbags crossbody.

This bohemian gypsy style is for the free spirited person who likes to be different and unique. It goes well with your skirts or a pair of jeans. This bag is designed by us, beaded by us, one stitch at a time and one bead at a time.

There is a lot that goes into making a bag. All the way from laying out those large elkskin hides and finding just the right pieces for a bag, cutting and punching the whole bag out, cutting the sewing laces and cutting the fringe.Then sitting down to sew.

Once the bag is complete there are finishing touches. Cutting the antler toggle and buttons and attaching them. 

Each fringe is tied on one at a time.

 You can see the antler buttons on the side giving this leather tote even more support and a beautiful decoration.

 

The bead work, a sunburst rosette is beaded in an assortment of rainbow colored beads. It is made and then sewn onto the bag.

I love to lace around my bead work designs to enhance the look.

It gives the bag and the bead work a different dimension.

Beaded turtle tote

These are pictures of my latest project. The bag is one we made for someone a while ago and she added the turtle with a sunburst center. I really enjoyed working on this beadwork.
