SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT AND THEN SOME

It's a nice warm spring day in Arizona. It's a really quiet and laid back kinda day. Sometimes on Sunday's its like that. Not always but today it is quiet and nice. We have been working on a couple new things this week so I thought I would share stories with you.
I have had this pink and green turtle for awhile trying to figure out what exactly would it like to be on. This was inspired by a mother of a child who was making pow wow regalia. She wanted to buy  three of them from me but ended up taking two. That's okay it gives me a chance to do something different. So I finally came up with an idea. A while back we purchased an off white soft tanned white cowhide that is just fabulous. It feels really good and you know leather, it smells great too! When I did art shows the biggest thing I noticed is how fascinated everyone is with the feel and smell of leather. Well in our shop every time we get another bunch of leather we get the full on experience of the smell and feel of the beautiful leather hides we get. Each one has got its own uniqueness.
When we start a project we  lay the hide out on a really big leather table and see what it has to offer. That is why every piece is different in our made to order shop.
This is our leather table with a hide stretched out.
Anyway I thought it would be fun to show you our leather table. It is awesome.
Anyway this is how it all starts.
Of course I have my beading table with all my cases of beads in my cave. (special place to bead)
Then you have my walls of beads.

We have a bead  and leather scrap store on Etsy. So I have a lot of beads and a lot  of scrap leather.
We don't always have a lot of scraps and leather laces in the store but we would gladly sell you some if you contact us.
We have plenty of scraps......For sure!
Well about that pink turtle, I made it a home and this is what it looks like......

I almost always bead in rainbow colors or fire colors so this was real different for me but it turned out real nice. I have learned in the past 25 years of beading the phrase different strokes for different folks is so very true. So I do try to mix it up a bit.
You can find this bag in our Etsy store.
This bag SOLD! Soon after my blog post. If you need something like this or even different contact me. I would be happy to help you.
Thanks for stopping by!
Blessing to you on this fine Sunday evening!

From the garden

Good Morning! It's a beautiful day in Arizona. I just sat in the garden and watched the sunrise. We have a few clouds because some weather is coming in so that makes the sunrise even more beautiful. This blog is my own little corner of the world where I can share my aspirations, inspirations and artwork with my family and friends. I have been playing in my garden in the afternoon. Here is Arizona spring is here. The trees are out mostly, not the mesquite trees they usually come out in April. I really love mesquite trees . They are a desert  tree. They don't require a lot of water and do very well on their own. The one you see in this picture lives in our garden. It is really big and beautiful.  This is a picture from last year when the leaves were out.   I enjoy sitting and working in my garden. It is a great earth connection place for me. Sometimes I get into a flow planting and playing that I can't help but feel guided by the wonders of nature. It means so much to me. It is a balance for me. Another one of my favorite trees is our chaste tree. We look forward every year for the beautiful purple flowers. The hummingbirds love to work the flowers.
Another one of my favorites is our rose bush. It almost always blooms by Mother's Day.  So here is a little bit of the beauty from my garden.
I am looking forward to showing you the new bushes we planted this year.

"Look, it cannot be seen - it is beyond form.
Listen, it cannot be heard - it is beyond sound.
Grasp - it cannot be held - it is untangible.
These three are indefinable;
Therefore they are joined in one.

Baby doll moccasins

Good morning friends. I thought I would show you these adorable little baby doll moccasins that are new in my Etsy shop. They are 3 inches heel to toe. They are perfect leather moccasins for doll makers or if you are looking for doll clothing for a little girls doll.
This is as small as we make our baby moccasins. Another fun thing you can do with these decorative doll moccasins is hang them on your rear view mirror.

We also have many other baby moccasins and children's moccasins. Some are beaded moccasins and some are plain leather moccasins. If you go to the link below you can see more of what we have to offer. We also take custom orders. So feel free to contact us.

Thanks for stopping!
Have a very awesome day!

Fringed leather handbag for the day

You want to talk fringe well let me tell you about this crossbody leather handbag. First it is made of chocolate elkskin leather and has tied , twisted fringe all around. There are many hours in this beautiful handmade, hand stitched fringed leather bag.  This is what I call a high fashion handbag but in the world of unique and not like you get from all the designers in Malls and department stores. These handbags are completely handmade by John and me at our home. We start with a hide layed out on our big leather table. First we look for the perfect lid that fits your order and then we go from there. Every hide has a different story , for sure. They aren't all perfect. They have scars and blemishes giving the bags and purses character. The older your bag gets the cooler it looks. We call it antiqued around our home. You don't have to do anything to these bags. Let them grow into you and your person. They take on a personality all their own from living with you.

This fringed leather bag measures 9 inches tall , 12 inches wide and 2.75 deep. It features an extra pocket inside, tied, twisted fringe all around , front and back and a 48 inch strap that is perfect for wearing crossbody. The closure is an antler tip.
This is the one handbag I choose to show you today!
For you to enjoy!
You can see this bag in our Etsy store

Blessings !
